Perched at the end of the aptly named Beauty Point on the banks of the River Tamar is locally sourced food haven, The River Café at Beauty Point. Folding, glass sliding doors open up to a breathtaking deck just a stone’s throw from the water’s edge, where guests sit and look at the passing boat traffic with a toasted panini or a Tasmanian seafood platter to share. Boags batter, Tasmanian scallops and smoked salmon lead the local charge, while over on the pizza menu the Brazilian is tempting, with leg ham, Parmesan and roasted capsicum. For the all-encompassing Tasmanian experience, perhaps sample the Tassie Tasting Plank, bulging with King Island Brie, Deloraine Cheddar, artisan duck, venison salami, smoked quail and housemade smoked salmon rillettes.
