A bustling hub south-west of Tamworth, Werris Creek was specifically chosen by the NSW Government in 1877 to be a gateway for railway travel and trade across the region.Werris Creek thrived on the steam era from the 1870s to the 1960s, and even today retains many artefacts from that time. The Railway Journeys Museum actively conserves and exhibits railway memorabilia from electric staff instruments to miniature trains in an interactive manner for visitors to experience.
