Banawah is collocated with Nathalia District Hospital in a new purpose built facility of 20 residential aged care beds. The home is set in an extensively landscaped garden area with raised garden beds relaxing areas which include sensory garden areas and an aviary. Residents are accommodated in spacious single rooms with all rooms having their own televisions cabling for private telephones or internet connection call bell and security systems and discreetly located piped oxygen. Subject to availability residents have the choice of shared or self contained ensuites to their rooms. Individualised care is provided by a team of qualified Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses who work with the resident and family to identify the care which best meets both the resident's needs and preferences. Meals are freshly prepared on site designed to offer residents a variety of choices taking into account their individual nutritional likes and dislikes. The activities program includes special outings art and craft music and sensory therapies and an exercise and strength training program overseen by a qualified physiotherapist. Residents have access to a 24 hour medical practitioner and a wide range of allied and community health programs collocated on site. These include but are not limited to generalist counselling audiology optometry podiatry dietetics occupational therapy and physiotherapy.
